Welcome

Hip arthroscopy is a minimally-invasive outpatient procedure. It is accomplished using a 4mm endoscope (telescope) attached to a high definition state of art camera system, using miniature instruments. Successful corrective surgery can be accomplished in the hip to cure or relieve pain and improve function.

Hip arthroscopy has now become the favored treatment for Femoroacetabular Impingement (FAI) instead of the "open surgical dislocation" when done by Dr. Sampson. He has extensive experience treating FAI since his development of the procedure in 2001 as well as inventing the "lateral approach to hip arthroscopy" in 1984 which revolutionized the procedure.
